BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKOW) -

Badgers star Luke Kunin did not have to wait long to hear his name called in the 2016 NHL Draft. The Minnesota Wild selected Kunin with the 15th overall. He is the highest Wisconsin draft pick since Ryan McDonagh went 12th overall in 2007.

The forward led Wisconsin with 19 goals as a freshman. Kunin hinted after his selection he plans to spend one more year in Madison.

"I think one more year at Wisconsin and I should be ready to make the jump. Just a 200-foot complete player. A guy that's going to be a complete player and, hopefully, a captain at the NHL level. I'm really happy to be selected by Minnesota. I'm excited to get things going."
