EUGENE, Ore. (WKOW) -- Kelsey Card can officially call herself an Olympian.

The 2016 NCAA Women's Discus champion competed in Saturday's discus final of the US Team Trials, setting a mark of 197 feet and three inches on her first attempt. Whitney Ashley posted the top mark at 200-8, followed by Stephanie Brown Trafton at 197-5. Only needing a third place finish to land a roster spot, Cards' effort was just two inches ahead of fourth-place Shelbi Vaughn.

"It's like a dream come true and I realize that kinda of sounds cliche but it's totally true, "Card said after punching her ticket to Rio, "For every serious athlete, the Olympics are the end goal. Whenever you say, "Oh, I'm an Olympian", people know what that means."

Zach Ziemek competed in the first half of the Men's Decathlon on Saturday and will head into Sunday's final day in third place. He set a PR in the first five events with a score of 4411, trailing only Ashton Eaton and Jeremy Taiwo.
