Kimberly QB verbally commits to Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- The ties between the Vanden Boom family and the University of Wisconsin runs deep. 

On Tuesday afternoon, Kimberly High School quarterback Danny Vanden Boom verbally committed to the Badgers via Twitter. 

Danny is the son of former UW safety Matt Vanden Boom. The elder Vanden Boom played for the Badgers from 1980-1982 before going in the fifth round of the 1983 NFL Draft to the Buffalo Bills. 

Danny has built an incredible high school career with the Papermakers. The 6-foot-4, 196 pounder, Pro-Style quarterback threw for 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns in his junior season, helping to lead Kimberly to their third straight state title (Division 2 in 2013, Division 1 in 2014 and 2015).

Vanden Boom has fielded offers from dozens of other school, receiving seven official offers. He will be a preferred walk-on for Wisconsin in 2017.
