Judge won't move trial of Wisconsin homicide suspect

Posted: Updated:

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) -- A judge has refused to move the trial of a Wisconsin man accused of killing another man last year and then eluding authorities for weeks.

Andrew Obregon of Bristol faces a long list of felony charges, including first-degree homicide. At a hearing Friday, Judge Chad Kerkman rejected a defense request to move Obregon's trial, saying he agreed with prosecutors that an unbiased jury could be chosen in Kenosha County.

The Kenosha News (http://bit.ly/2a1JiMk ) reports the judge also rejected a defense motion to suppress confessions Obregon allegedly made during three interviews with detectives following his capture.

Obregon is accused of killing Tywon Anderson last September, then going on the run and eluding capture for weeks before being arrested in Illinois. He has pleaded not guilty. His trial is planned for September.
