JUPITER ISLAND, FL (WKOW) -- Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he will not play in the PGA Championship next week due to his lingering issues from back surgery. Woods' agent Mark Steinberg told the Golf Channel that woods will not play for the rest of the season either.
Back in June, Woods said he was unsure on whether he would play again this year. He has been rehabbing from his latest back surgery that he had last year. He has had three back procedures done since March of 2014.
Steinberg maintained that Woods is making progress with his rehab but they decided it didn't make much sense to play again this year with how few events are left.
Woods last played in August 2015 when he finished in a tie for 10th at the Wyndham Championship. He last won a tournament in 2013 and last won a major in 2008.
