JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The Janesville Police Department sent two officers to Flagstaff, Arizona earlier in July to attend a Police Explorer's Conference.

They were hoping to recruit minority candidates for department employment.  However, prior to the conference beginning, Officer Chad Sullivan was arrested by police in Flagstaff for OWI.  Janesville police say his behavior is concerning on numerous levels, including the rental car that Sullivan was operating was paid for by the City and the officers were representing the City.

An internal investigation is underway and will those involved will be appropriately disciplined.

Just this past weekend, probationary officer Thomas Erickson was involved in a disturbance on E. Milwaukee Street and Mount Zion Avenue in Janesville. Erickson was arrested for disorderly conduct and another internal investigation is underway and a decision on Erickson's continued employment is being discussed.
