WAUNAKEE (WKOW) -

After an overtime loss to Badger in Level-3 of the post season a year ago, the Waunakee Warriors close out their first week of practice ready to make another deep play off run in 2016.

"I think we have some kids, that if they haven't played a lot of varsity, you are going to hear their name's soon." Said Warriors head coach Pat Rice. "We have a number of guys that have had some varsity snaps that lay a foundation for us in terms of leadership and expectations."

Waunakee finished with an (11-1) record last season.

"It never felt like this year was going to get here, but now that it's senior year we have really embraced it." Said senior left tackle Blake Smithback "We are looking forward to all of the possibilities that are going to come this year."

"I don't think there is anything surprising, I think everybody has been putting in the work." Said senior right guard Jacob Rapps. "We are starting to get together and are starting to play some football."

The Warriors open their season at Oregon on Friday August 19.
