Lodi's Savannah Curtis Can Kick

Posted: Updated:
LODI (WKOW) -

The Lodi Blue Devils football program has produced a long line of talented kickers and punters. Junior Savannah Curtis looks to be the next notch in that line of tradition.

Curtis is a girl, and the starting kicker for Lodi. Heading into her junior year, she has already punched in a 44-yard field goal in practice this season.

"First of all you have to have the right mind set." Said Curtis. "You have to sweep the ball off the tee, look at the ball right on the bottom and follow through."

She makes it sound easy, and the other kickers on the team that try to watch and learn from Curtis will tell you otherwise.

"She loves it. I'm very thankful that she is still staying with us and kicking with us, when she could go play tennis, run cross country, play volleyball, she could do swimming. I mean the girl is just an athlete."  Said Blue Devils head coach Dave Puls.

The Blue Devils will hit the road to start the season. Opening at Delavan-Darien on Friday August 19.
