Premier horse event prepares for weekend show

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau is thrilled to host the 2016 Working Western Horse Celebration on the grounds of the Alliant Energy Center August 11-14th.

This one of a kind event, new to Madison, that showcases the very best in western style horsemanship and is emerging as one of the premier horse events in the Midwest.

On Wednesday, Kenny Scheuller and Sandra Woerle stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the event.

The event is the only show of its kind in the U.S. featuring multiple breeds of horses competing for nearly $75,000 in prize money and awards.  Events are working cow horse, reining, ranch riding, trail and costume in addition to a full POA show.  Breeds of horses that will be attending are Arabians, Quarter Horse, Paints, Appaloosa and Pony of the Americas.  

There will be breed demonstrations on Friday and Saturday.  Come meet the Arabian horse and sign up for farm tour to be given away on Saturday.  Silent auction with many beautiful items for the horse lover.  Vendors on site during the week.  There are entrants from Montana, South Dakota, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Florida, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Saturday night features freestyle reining and supreme costume competition.
