Fumagalli Looks to Up His Role This Season

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -

The starting tight end position is another up for grabs for the Badgers as they close out the first week of fall camp. Junior Troy Fumagalli closed out last season on a strong note and needs that to carry over this season to land in the starting lineup in 2016.

Fumagalli seems to be the front runner to replace Austin Traylor who is now with the Dallas Cowboys.

"I think with what comes with a bigger role, come more preparation. I try to stay focused, stay in my playbook." Said Fumagalli.

Troy battled injuries in the early half of last season, but finished strong with 18 grabs in the final four games. This season he needs to be a reliable target for his quarterback, plus lead a young group of tight ends.

"Coach would never put me in a position that I can't handle. They do a good job of working with Eric and Kyle and the other tight ends I think we could all have a bigger role."  Said Fumagalli.
