Slender Man suspect to plead insanity in attack

WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- The attorney for one of the girls accused of trying to sacrifice a classmate to honor the fictional character Slender Man stated his client will plead insanity.

In a Waukesha County courtroom Friday, Tony Cotton, Morgan Geyser's attorney, says she'll plead not guilty due to mental defect.  Investigators say the girls, 12-years-old at the time of the 2014 attack, plotted for several months before luring their friend, also 12, into the woods and stabbing her numerous times.  The girls had hoped killing her would please Slender Man.

Both girls face a charge of attempted homicide in adult court.  Attorneys for both have been fighting to have their trials moved to juvenile court, but in July a state appeals court ruled against that.
