BELLEVILLE (WKOW) -- If you're looking for a short road trip to end the summer, think about taking the scenic drive into Belleville this weekend to canoe the Sugar River or bike the Badger State Trail. Belleville is hosting its annual "Lakefest Celebration" on Sunday.
The event is August 28 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Belleville's Community Park. It's a celebration of Lake Belle View, which is right in the center of town.
Free, family-friendly activities include t'ai chi by the lake, canoe rides, fur trade re-enactors, nature hikes, live music by The High Street Revelers and a hands-on presentation by award-winning nature educator David Stokes.
There is also a fishing contest for kids and a photo contest with prizes for the best adult and juvenile pictures in the Community, People and Nature categories.
The community can visit the booths of local businesses and community organizations. Food and drink will be available to buy.
