Wisconsin Dairy News: Baker Cheese in St. Cloud, WI
ST. CLOUD, WI (WKOW) -- Baker Cheese in St. Cloud, Wisconsin is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
In 1916 Frank Baker bought a tiny little plant in St. Cloud, Wisconsin, and started making cheese.
By the 1950's the second generation of Bakers were active in the company and added a few more employees. Frank and his son Francis were approached by one of their customers to convert their plant from cheddar to mozzarella cheese production.
Now, the fourth generation and their relatives have grown into the business and continue to make string cheese, its signature product, using the local milk supply they've worked with since 1916.
