Leaving a Donut Sized Hole: Beloved Middleton bakery closing after 34 sweet years

MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- It's the end of a delicious era in Middleton.  Scott's Pastry Shoppe is closing this Saturday, after 34 years in business.

"One woman said to me, 'I came to cry with you, and you're a glow!'"  Owner Jackie Scott said in between visits with folks who have been stopping for years to try her treats.

"The donuts are still as good, I don't think it's changed that much," Milwaukee's Magan Bruzan drove the distance Thursday to enjoy one last morsel.

At 75-years-old, Scott says the cookie is finally crumbling; she's looking forward to her sweet sunset years.

"There are too many things to do other than wake up at 1:30 in the morning and bake all the time," Scott said.  The grandmother says it's been a sweet career, but she's ready to let it all go.

"No, it's time, I have a little grandson that is two, and if I don't quit now, I can never get that time back," Scott said.

Scott says they are quickly using up their supplies, but expect to still have plenty of bakery goods for sale on the final day, this Saturday.

"We're gonna do the things we can do until we run out of product."

Scott is currently selling not just the bakery's building, but all the equipment and the secret recipes.  She says she's had a few inquiries, but no real offers to buy the business.
