MADISON (WKOW) -- We're less than a week away from IRONMAN Wisconsin and Madison is looking for volunteers.
About 2,800 athletes will participate in Wisconsin's IRONMAN Sunday, September 11. Organizers will need about 3,700 volunteers to help them cross the finish line in downtown Madison.
On Monday, Mandy Mommartes, Volunteer Coordinator with the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the need for volunteers. She says there are plenty of volunteer spots open and a lot of different types of jobs to do, from pulling off wetsuits to handing out water to just encouraging the athletes along the way. Mommartes says they are looking for all shifts, but the later times are needed the most, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.
