Brady Bloedow's Big Game

Posted: Updated:

Like any fall Friday night in Spring Green Wisconsin, the lights are on and football season is here at River Valley High School.

The field is outlined by the sidelines where each team plans out their strategy, but this time on the Blackhawks sideline, they have something extra.

Earlier that day four players from the varsity team paid Brady Bloedow a visit at recess. Brady is a 4th grader at Spring Green Elementary and was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma stage IIB. He was given a jersey, to by an honorary member of the varsity team.

"They said they had this football jersey for me." Said Brady. "I was so glad to have this, because I couldn't play football."

Unable to play, Brady joined the varsity team on the sidelines, having a front row seat, and being around the guys.

"It's amazing how they can make a little boy feel welcome in any shape or form." said Brady's mom Corrine Bloedow. "That's the way a community should be."

For now, the x's and o's for Brady involve a different kind of game plan, but football is always in his sights.

"It means a lot and I really want to thank the senior team for inviting me to come out here with them today." Said Brady.
