No. 2 Middleton fights off Madison West for 2-2 draw

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- We are nearly a month in to the high school soccer schedule, about that time when teams try to separate themselves in the conference standings. Second-ranked Middleton trying to do just that tonight against Madison West.

The Regents struck first to take a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Cardinals would find the equalizer 15 minutes into the second half. At the 60th minute, Drake Vandermause received a flick over the middle to get a one-on-one opportunity with sophomore goalkeeper Alex Alvarado. A right-footed flick would be all he needed to sneak it by Alvarado and notch the game up at 1-1. Bradan Allen was credited with the assist.

The Regents would reclaim the lead at the 74th minute mark, but once again the Cardinals would find the equalizer. After 90 minutes of play, the game would end in a 2-2 draw.
