BTN sets time for No. 9 Wisconsin-No. 12 Michigan State game

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin’s Big Ten Conference opener at Michigan State will kick off at 11 a.m. and air live on BTN, the league announced late Saturday.

The Badgers, ranked No. 9 in the latest Associated Press Top 25, will make their first trip to East Lansing since 2011 when they face the 12th-ranked Spartans on Sept. 24.

Wisconsin seeks its first win at Spartan Stadium since 2002, while Michigan State will look to extend a four-game home win streak over the Badgers after scoring victories in 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2011.

Overall, Wisconsin and Michigan State haven’t met since the 2012 season, when the Spartans claimed a 16-13 overtime victory at Camp Randall Stadium. The teams split their meetings in 2011, with MSU scoring a 37-31 win on a Hail Mary at Spartan Stadium on Oct. 22 before the Badgers claimed a 42-39 victory in the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game on Dec. 3.

This year’s game marks the opening of a four-game stretch in which the Badgers will start Big Ten play by facing four teams currently ranked among the top 13 teams in the AP Top 25: at No. 12 Michigan State (Sept. 24), at No. 4 Michigan (Oct. 1), vs. No. 3 Ohio State (Oct. 15) and at No. 13 Iowa (Oct. 22).

Since the AP Top 25 debuted in 1936, Wisconsin has never faced four consecutive ranked teams in the same season.
