RIGHT NOW: Authorities looking for DeForest man involved in rollover crash

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) – Authorities in Dane County are looking for a man they say was involved in a rollover crash over the weekend.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, 30-year-old William L. Hunt of DeForest left the scene of the crash on Highway K in the town of Springfield just before 11 p.m. Sunday. Authorities say he was not found after an extensive search after the crash that night.

The Sheriff's Office says authorities are using utility vehicles, K9's, and UAV's (drones) in the investigation. They say the search is difficult because the rural area on CTH K near Vosen Road primarily has cornfields with mature corn in it.

Authorities say evidence found inside the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder that Hunt was driving suggests he was hurt. Detectives also found Hunt's cell phone at the scene of the crash.

The Sheriff's Office is asking people in the area of the crash to check their property thoroughly for any evidence of Hunt's presence. If you have seen or heard from William L. Hunt, you're asked to call the non-emergency line at the Dane County Communications Center at (608) 266-4948.
