Hornibrook Hints He Will Start For Badgers

Posted: Updated:

With just four days until No. 11 Wisconsin opens it's conference play at No. 8 Michigan State there was supposed to be question at who was starting under center on Saturday for the Badgers, and freshman QB Alex Hornibrook may have spilled the beans on Tuesday with the media.

Hornibrook was asked if he was starting Saturday's game, he responded "that is what I've heard, yep." He was then asked if that is what the coaches told him. Hornibrook stopped the interview to ask the team's media relations on how to answer the question. Upon return he responded "Coach is getting both of us ready to go, and if I'm the guy I'm ready to go. If Bart is the guy I'm ready for that too."

Hornibrook replaced fifth year senior quarterback Bart Houston half way through the third quarter in Saturday's 23-17 win over Georgia State and could make his first collegiate start this Saturday in East Lansing, Michigan.

"Every other position can play two guys, and they don't get called out for it." Houston said to the media on Tuesday.

Houston is listed as the starter on the depth chart. However, Paul Chryst came up short of naming Houston the actual starter, but mentioned how both quarterbacks would need to be ready to play.

Kickoff against Michigan State in East Lansing is set for 11am on Saturday.
