Madison Art Hopes to Fight Climate Change

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) - Artists and environmentalists came together Sunday to help fight climate change.

Milwaukee "artivist" Susan Simensky Bietila helped guide participants in building eye-catching giant puppets, props, fish hats, banners, signs, and mud graffiti stencils at the Norway Center on the East Side.

Bietila said art is a powerful way to get a message across.

"When people want to get ideas across, it's much more effective to have beautiful art," she said "And to have performance, it's much more inviting."

The creations will join 350 Madison's now-famous Enbridge Octopus, which was created for the 2014 People's Climate march.
