MADISON, Wis. (Per UW Athletics) – It was only an exhibition game, but the Wisconsin men’s hockey team posted an emphatic opening to the Tony Granato coaching era with a 10-1 victory over Canadian university Victoria on Saturday at the Kohl Center.

Sophomore Luke Kunin led the Badgers with three goals, while sophomore Seamus Malone had two goals and an assist, and junior Cameron Hughes produced three assists.

Wisconsin outshot Victoria, 63-10.

The 10 goals marked the first double-digit output for the UW men’s hockey team in any game since March 13, 1993, a 10-3 victory over Colorado College in a first-round WCHA playoff game.

Six different Badgers scored goals in the game.

Freshmen goaltenders Jack Berry and Johan Blomquist split time in goal, with Berry stopping five shots and Blomquist making four saves.

UW went 3-for-6 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill, while both teams scored a short-handed goal.
