Womens Hockey: Desbiens Sets Record in Shut Out Win for Wisconsin

MADISON (WKOW) -

The No. 1 Wisconsin Badger women's hockey team opened a weekend home series, with a shut out win against Ohio State Friday night at LaBahn Arena. Senior goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens stopped all 15 shots she faced to earn her 40th career shut out win.

Junior forward Emily Clark scored the games first goal at the 2:04 mark of the first period on Wisconsin's way to a 3-0 win.

Goaltender Desbiens broke Jessie Vetter’s career shutout record at UW as Vetter held the previous school record of 39 shutouts.

With the win, Wisconsin improves to (3-0) overall on the season. Game two of the series is at 1pm on Saturday at LaBahn Arena.
