MADISON (WKOW) -

The Wisconsin men's hockey team scored five goals, but fell 8-5 to No. 9 Boston College at the Kohl Center on Sunday to close out the weekend with a series split.

The Badgers trailed 2-0 with 23 seconds to go in the opening period when freshman forward Trent Frederic put Wisconsin on the board with a power play goal. Frederic had a four-point game with a goal and three assists on Sunday.

The Badgers trailed by as many as four when junior forward Cameron Hughes scored a highlight-reel goal last in the second period to get the rally started, pulling in a pass from Grant Besse, before shooting through his own legs for the score to make it 6-3.

Boston College scored two empty net goals in the third period on their way to the 8-5 win.

After the weekend series split, the Badgers are now (2-2) on the regular season.

Wisconsin will host the U.S. Under-18 team in exhibition play on Friday at the Kohl Center at 7pm.
