BLANCHARDVILLE (WKOW) -- A couple is honoring their son's memory by raising money for epilepsy research.

Mandy and Dan Koch's baby boy Mathias battled seizures and died because of complications from his epilepsy at the young age of seven months. His parents created a race in his name and dubbed it the Chunky Monkey Epilepsy Run.

The event this year is Saturday, November 5 at Yellowstone Golf Course in Blanchardville (15750 County Q Road). All proceeds from the event will benefit children affected by epilepsy.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. There will be a welcome at 9:45 a.m., followed by a presentation on what's new in epilepsy research. The kids' race is at 10:00 a.m., followed by the 5K run/walk at 10:30 a.m. They will start with the youngest age group. For more information on the schedule, including the Diaper Dash (children 0-2) and the other races (including those for kids), click here.
