Badgers football to open 2017 season on a Friday night

MADISON (WKOW) -

The Badgers football team will be opening the 2017 season on a Friday night. The Big Ten announced Tuesday that Wisconsin's season opener against Utah State will be a primetime game on Sept. 1.

Here's the league's initial slate of Friday night games for the 2017 season:

Fri., Sept. 1                           Washington at Rutgers
Fri., Sept. 1                           Utah State at Wisconsin
Fri., Sept. 8                           Ohio at Purdue     
Fri., Sept. 29                         Nebraska at Illinois
Fri., Oct. 13                          Northwestern at Maryland
Fri., Oct. 27                          Michigan State at Northwestern
