Badgers Ramczyk projected as first-round NFL draft pick

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) -- The Badgers' Cotton Bowl preparations are officially underway as the team held their first full-squad bowl practice Thursday afternoon.

For the seniors, this is the final two week stretch of practice but it may also be the end of the line for junior tackle Ryan Ramczyk.

A transfer from Division III Stevens Point, Ramczyk earned First-team All-American honors in his first season at UW.

Besides earning collegiate awards, he's also caught the eye of NFL scouts. Some mock drafts have him listed as a first-round pick with some projecting him as high as a top ten selection.

"It's a little hectic but you know you gotta take it day by day," Ramczyk said after Thursday's practice, "I'm just talking to coaches right now and getting feedback to make the bets possible decision I can for me."

Offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph says the junior has come a long way in such a short amount of time but is confident Ramczyk will make the best decision for him moving forward.

"I think you try to get him all the information that's out there so he can get a feel where he kinda projects. Meeting with mom and dad and making sure everyone is on the same page. I think the communication has been terrific and he's got a great head on his shoulders."

Ramczyk has until January 18th to decide whether he will return to school for his senior season.
