Lamont Paris Departs from UW for Head Job at Chattanooga

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -

According to multiple reports Wisconsin assistant coach Lamont Paris will leave Madison to become the new head coach at Chattanooga.

Paris spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Badgers (2010-2017) after working at Akron from 2005-2010, and was named Wisconsin's associate head coach before the start of the 2016 season after Greg Gard became the team's full-time head coach.

Paris was a key part of Wisconsin's recruiting efforts, particularly in Ohio, ever since he joined Bo Ryan's staff in 2010. Paris helped recruit the likes of Nigel Hayes, Vitto Brown, Khalil Iverson and D'Mitrik Trice to Wisconsin's 2016-17 team from Ohio.

Paris will replace Matt McCall at Chattanooga, who coached the Mocs to a 19-12 record in 2016-17 before taking the head coaching job at UMass last week.
