MADISON (WKOW) -- WKOW is celebrating the wonderful volunteers in southern Wisconsin.

The Jefferson Awards Banquet at Nakoma Golf Club in Madison honors all the hard-working volunteers who won monthly awards. Plus, we found out who will represent our area at the national awards ceremony.

Russ and Sheila Wolff, from McFarland, were chosen for their work creating The Aly Wolff Foundation after their daughter Aly died of cancer. They've raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research so far.

"Our mission in life until our last breath is to raise as much money as we can to get this out of our lives.. for everybody," says Sheila. Wolff.

The Wolffs say they expect to break the $700-thousand mark this year. Learn more about their story here.

The Jefferson Awards were established in 1972 as a Nobel prize for community service.
