MADISON (WKOW) -- "Live Like Finn" will be holding its second annual “Live Like Finn Kickball Tournament” on Saturday, April 29, from 1-6 pm at KEVA Sports Center.
On Wednesday, Nicole Mondroski and her husband Michael Ring stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about why they started this annual event.
“Live Like Finn” is the Madison chapter of “The Live Like John Foundation”. In 2013, after 14 months of fighting, Nicole and Michael lost their 2 year old son, Finnegan to a high grade brain tumor. They want to prevent families from going through their same hardship and were able to partner with “Live Like John”.
The event is for adults and their children over 14. There will be raffle items, prizes, t-shirts, and beer provided to players over the age of 21. Money raised through this event will go to “Live Like John" - The John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The foundation donates money directly to fund grants for cutting edge research on pediatric brain tumors.
The giving goal will be to raise $5,000 from now until the end of the tournament. The cost of the event is $40 per player. Players can register as individuals or request to be placed on a team. Players will receive a free tournament t-shirt and a wrist band good for free beer or soda while playing.
Non players may enter into the raffle, hang out and watch, and cheer on the teams.
