MADISON (WKOW) -- An upcoming event will showcase the culture and contributions of Madison's Indian-American community.
"Namaste Madison" is part of the Library Takeover program at the Madison Public Library. The event is Saturday, May 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Central Public Library.
Organizer Anjali Sridharan says the Indian-American community has been living in the Madison for 50 years, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars each year to Wisconsin's economy. That includes more than 200 scientists, more than 90 medical professionals and dozens of restaurants or ethnic Indian grocery stores just in the greater Madison area.
The event is free. There will be children's activities, panel discussions, STEM demonstrations plus Indian food cooking demonstrations and sampling. To learn more or see a full schedule of events, click here.
