UPDATE: Madison Police release surveillance image of suspect believed to be connected to late night armed robberies

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Madison Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect they believe is responsible for two armed robberies late on May 7th. 

Police say the first robbery occurred around 11:00 pm at Selective Video on Commercial Avenue; the second robbery happening just 35 minutes later at Red Letter News on East Washington Avenue. 

Both robberies involved a man with a handgun. The suspect is described as an African American man, approximately 6-feet tall, with a lanky build.

The two robberies are believed to be connected, and detectives believe this person could also be connected to other recent robberies.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two armed robberies late Sunday night in Madison could be the work of the same suspect.

Madison Police say the first happened around 11:00 p.m. at Selective Video on Commercial Avenue. Witnesses said a man came into the store and pulled a handgun on the clerk, pushing it into her back. The suspect took money from the cash register, then ran from the scene. No one was hurt.

While officers were investigating that incident, Madison Police got a call about another armed robbery, this time at Red Letter News on East Washington Avenue. It just only about 35 minutes later. The man had a handgun and took cash from the register before running away.

In both cases, the suspect was described as an African-American man, about 6-feet tall with a gray jacket and dark pants. If you know anything, you're urged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014.
