Badgers softball hoping to 'produce'

Posted: Updated:

The Badgers softball team put new meaning to the term of trying to 'produce' at the plate. In an effort to lighten the mood, the team took some swings at produce on Tuesday. The players smashing everything from tomatoes to apples to bananas. The group has been all smiles since learning of their NCAA Tournament bid on Sunday.

"This year, we didn't know if we were going to make it," says senior Chloe Miller. "We were a complete bubble team. It was completely on the committee and other teams around the nation and stuff like that whether we were going to go. So, it was just super electric."

Wisconsin will head to the regional in Eugene, Oregon. The Badgers will face Missouri on Friday night at 8 p.m. The Badgers are 5-10 all-time in the NCAA tournament. Their last appearance came in 2014, which means very few of the current Badgers have postseason experience.

"This is a bunch of our first time going to a regional," says junior Kelsey Jenkins. "I think the senior class is the only class that has been to another regional. So, I know there's some big excitement from the rest of us who are getting to go for the first time."
