UPDATE: Alumni Park at UW-Madison opens

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE (WKOW) -- A sculpture of Bucky Badger, known as Well Red, is one of the featured attractions of UW-Madison's newest park, Alumni Park.

The sculpture was unveiled Friday night as part of the opening of the park.

The park also has 50 museum-like exhibits and is believed to be the first alumni park of its kind in the country.

"I think tells some great stories about the value of higher education, the value of attending the university and how people go on to live their lives around the world and make a difference for the rest of society and for the greater common good," said Paula Bonner, Emerita President of the Wisconsin Alumni Association.

About 4,000 alumni helped provide gifts to make the project happen.

Alumni Park sits between the Memorial Union and the Red Gym on Langdon Street.
