UPDATE: Beloit standoff suspect taken into custody

UPDATE (WKOW) --  Beloit police say the suspect, Vernon Lige, has been arrested without incident. 

Police tell 27 News that Lige is being held at the Rock County Jail.


UPDATE (WKOW) -- Beloit police say no one was found inside a home on St. Lawrence Avenue after surrounding the house for nearly 14 hours. 

Police tell 27 News it's not clear whether the suspect, Vernon Lige, was ever in the home or if he escaped. Police are still actively looking for Lige, but they are no longer at the scene of the standoff. 

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Police say the standoff on St. Lawrence Avenue is over and they are now looking for the man who was involved.

The Beloit Police Department says officers are trying to find 31-year-old Vernon Lige. They say he is wanted for endangering safety with a firearm and a violation of a domestic abuse injunction.

As of 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, police were still at the house on St. Lawrence and they planned to reopen the roadway soon.

BELOIT (WKOW) -- Beloit police are continuing a standoff that began Wednesday morning. They are asking people to stay away from the 1900 and 2000 block of St. Lawrence.

Police report that there is an armed person inside a home.
