MADISON (WKOW) -- With the temperatures starting to drop, now is a good time to do an inventory of your winter weather gear and think about sharing some items you don't need with people who don't have adequate clothes for the cold.

On Thursday, Curt Lenz Curt from the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the annual charity drive.

Wisconsin's statewide campaign "The Big Bundle Up" invites Wisconsin residents and travelers to donate warm winter items for those in need.  Tourism organizations across the state collect new or gently used coats, mittens, hats, scarves, snow pants, and other warm clothing items that are then donated to local charities.

Now in its seventh year, the program has been a great success, collecting more than 103,400 items for those in need across Wisconsin.

You can drop off your new or slightly used winter clothing items through Tuesday, January 2, 2017.  Drop off sites are available on travelwisconsin.com.  If you are in the Madison area, you can drop off your items at the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau.
