LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- Tech giant Apple faces a class-action lawsuit because it purposely slows down its iPhones.
Apple admitted this week it deliberately slows down older iPhones to prevent unexpected shutdowns when batteries get old.
USA Today and others report just a day after that admission, a proposed class-action breach of contract lawsuit was filed by two people who say they never consented to allow Apple to slow down their older iPhones.
Apple hasn't responded to the lawsuit yet.
Wednesday, Apple made a statement confirming what many customers had suspected; that iPhones slowed as they aged. A tech expert tells 27 News this strategy isn't unique to Apple; it happens to other devices like Android phones, Windows phones and just about every piece of tech hardware sold.
