MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- A Middleton company is setting the stage for a new green way to create their Hollywood lighting magic.

To stay in the spotlight, Electronic Theatre Controls is expanding with a $16 Million  addition.

"This is an experiment, but it's also with the purpose or creating special environments." ETC Founder and CEO Fred Foster said.

Foster says the special shipping container project has taken three years to come together.

"We are making light labs out of shipping containers, electrical labs, we are taking four containers and turning them into a large meeting room," Foster said about some of the ways they will use the forty cargo holders.

The idea is one 1848 Construction President Brad Crowley says gave him a few headaches.  He says it was tough to logistically fit the lego-like structures inside the new building, but he's thrilled with how the effort is turning out.  Crowley says it gives a permanent home to shipping containers from China that usually end up in junkyards.

"It is pretty neat you know, all the containers are recycled, they are one use, but they are all being re-used," Crowley said.
