Preparing for low visibility, snow-covered roads for Friday morning commute

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Friday morning's commute could cause major issues on the roads.  We've got you covered with what to expect and prepare for ahead of time.

According to the 27 Stormtrack Weather Team, this round of snow could be the biggest seen during a morning commute in parts of southern Wisconsin this season.  Prepare for low visibility, snow-covered and slippery roads and sharing the roads with emergency vehicles and plow drivers.

Law enforcement reminds you, if you see emergency crews on the roads to slow down and move over if possible.  Give yourself plenty of time for your morning drive on Friday, increase your following distances and turn on your headlights.  Also remember snow emergency guidelines for your city; they typically involve a change in parking on city streets.

Finally, officials say the best tip for staying safe in snowy conditions is to stay home.
