Harley-Davidson motorcycles recalled because of brake issue

Posted: Updated:

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) --Thousands of Harley-Davidson motorcycles are being voluntarily recalled because of a potential problem with brakes.

Harley-Davidson says the voluntary recall covers CVO Touring and VSCR bikes from the model years 2008-2011 which have anti-lock brakes. That includes more than 250,000 bikes worldwide, including 175,000 sold in the U.S.

The problem is with the anti-lock brake system. A module can corrode and fail without warning, meaning the  brakes won't work. Owners are supposed to change the brake fluid every two years, and officials say that might be part of the problem with the corrosion.

You can have your brake fluid flushed and replaced starting February 12.
