JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police arrested a wanted man with the help of a K9 officer.

Patrol officers were called to the area of W. Court Street and Cherry Street Thursday around 3:40 p.m. because someone spotted Lynell J. Harris. Police say he had outstanding warrants.

Police say Harris, 31 of Janesville, tried to run away. A citizen alerted officers to Harris hiding in a home in the 100 block of Cherry Street. Police requested Officer Drew Severson and his K9 partner Fred to help find Harris once they learned he went into the basement.

Officers asked Harris to surrender, but when he didn't, Fred was let into the basement and found Harris hiding. Police say Harris was bit by the K9 and had injuries. He got medical treatment at a local facility.

Harris was then taken to the Rock County Jail.
