Warmest temps of the month by Valentine's Day

MADISON (WKOW) -  After a frigid February so far, a thaw is on the way! A ridge of high pressure is setting up over the eastern half of the United States allowing for above average temps. Winds go clockwise around high pressure systems, so a flow will return from the south allowing for more warmth.

By Tuesday, highs become more seasonable in the upper 20s & low 30s. On Valentine's Day, the breeze picks up ushering in more warmth with temps peaking in the low 40s. Upper 30s again on Thursday with a cold front moving through late allowing for a possible rain-snow mix. (Stay tuned for future updates on this system.)

This will allow conditions to be temporarily chilly on Friday with most of the day spent in the teens before warming up to the 30s & 40s for the weekend!
