Monona Grove wins fourth straight state title in D2 swimming finale

MADISON (WKOW) -

The WIAA boys swimming and diving Division 2 state meet came to a close in record setting fashion Friday night at the Natatorium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin.

Monona Grove senior Ben McDade took home state titles individually in the 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle. McDade finished with a time of (1:42.02) in his 4th straight 200 yard freestyle state win. He also tallied his 4th straight win in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:32.54.

"You know it's kind of everything. Bitter sweet, it's a little bit of everything. I can't really explain it," McDade said.

McDade teammate, Eric Storms took home his third straight state title in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of (50.18) good for the sixth fastest time in state history.

Edgewood sophomore, Truman teDuits won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of (46.96.)

As a team, Monona Grove won their fourth consecutive title, with a total score of 333 points.
