MADISON (WKOW) -

Most athletes strive for perfection, and Sun Prairie senior Drew Scharenbrock has accomplished that on the wrestling mat so far this season, as he eyes up a state title at 145 pounds this weekend in the WIAA state wrestling tournament.

Scharenbrock is a returning state champion to this years meet. Last season, he took home a title at 138 pounds.

"I've been in wrestling for 14 years now, and I really think it has paid off," Scharenbrock said.

"He has a great motor, just doesn't stop moving," Sun Prairie head wrestling coach Jim Nelson said. "His technique in wrestling, he is multifaceted, where he can do many different areas of wrestling and be successful."

As drew puts the finishing touches on his legacy to leave at Sun Prairie, he mirrors that of his older brother Jared, who currently wrestles for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Drew said, "I would always go to his wrestling tournaments and watch. It was cool to see him have the success that he did and it gives me something to strive for as well."

Drew has an overall record of (146-4) over the past three seasons, and returns to the state meet for the fourth straight year. He will attend the University of Wisconsin in the fall and wrestle for the Badgers.
