Sen. Sanders rallies with Randy Bryce in Wisconsin

RACINE (WKOW) -- Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is in Wisconsin, giving House Speaker Paul Ryan's challenger a boost in support.

A big crowd was happy to see Sen. Sanders take the stage at Memorial Hall in Racine with Democrat Randy Bryce.

The two spoke about raising the minimum wage, Medicare, the opioid epidemic and immigration.

"We also need free college tuition for working-class kids and a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers so that the American dream doesn't die," Bryce said.

"We need to get rid of Republican control over the House and of the Senate and bring in leadership that is prepared to fight for working people...not just billionaires," Sanders told the crowd.

The two have another rally in Green Bay Saturday night. That one will specifically focus on a push to repeal the Republicans' tax bill.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Wisconsin have put up a new billboard in Green Bay, as Sanders visits the area. It attacks his opposition to the GOP's tax reform bill.

“Hard-working Wisconsin families are seeing real relief from the Republican tax reform bill – keeping more of what they earn instead of sending it to D.C.” said Alec Zimmerman, spokesperson for the Republican Party of Wisconsin, in a statement. “Sadly, Senator Baldwin and Senator Sanders are picking Washington over Wisconsin – campaigning in favor of higher taxes on the families of our state and opposing a bill that is already growing paychecks.”

The party says the tax bill saves the average family $25-hundred.
