Wisconsin lawmakers talking about school safety proposals
MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker says he's talking with state lawmakers about a package of bills to tackle school safety. The governor didn't mention any specifics, but he said he's against arming teachers. Walker says they should approach it like the national response after 9-11, in which safeguards were put in place at airports to keep away people who could cause harm. "I think we need to have that same approach when it comes to schools. Looking at making sure no child, no student, no teacher, no parent should ever be afraid of being threatened," Walker said. The governor says he believes there is active interest in a comprehensive plan.
