MADISON (WKOW) -- Friday is a day to celebrate reading, literacy and Dr. Suess' birthday.  It's known as Read Across America Day.

Kids at an elementary school in La Crescent, Minnesota already started their celebration.  Students got to learn about the history of the author, born Theodor Suess Geisel, with more than 60 children's books published over his lifetime.

"I really like the Lorax," said a student named Mady.  "It's fun to look at the drawings and how creative they are."

Other top mentions were The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

Dani Maxwell will be reading at Kids Express Learning in Madison for the occasion on Friday.
