UPDATE: Chief: Deaths of officer, wife "tragic" after shooting at Central Mich. University

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- The Latest on a shooting at Central Michigan University (all times local):
   8:10 p.m.
   Officials in Belleville, Illinois, say the part-time police officer who was shot to death in a Central Michigan University dormitory positively impacted everyone he served with.
   James Davis Sr. and his wife, Diva, were shot to death Friday.
   Belleville Police Chief Jiminez Allen says Davis served with the department since 1999. He went on to say the deaths of Davis and his wife were "tragic and untimely."
   Mount Pleasant, Michigan, police say they suspect the couple's son, 19-year-old James Eric Davis Jr., in their deaths.
   More than 100 police officers have been searching neighborhoods near the university for the student, who ran from the campus after the shootings.

   Illinois authorities have confirmed that one of the two victims of the Central Michigan University shooting was a police officer.
   Bellwood, Illinois, Mayor Andre Harvey says residents of the Chicago suburb are saddened by the death of James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis. Police suspect they were killed by their son James Davis Jr., a student at Central Michigan.
   James Davis Sr. was a part-time police officer in Bellwood.
   The shooting happened at a dormitory on a day when parents were picking up their children at Central Michigan for the start of a week-long spring break.

   Two people killed at Central Michigan University have been identified as the parents of a 19-year-old student who is being sought by police.
   The university says the shooting victims are James Davis Sr. and Diva (DEE'-va) Davis. Records show they're from Plainfield, Illinois.
   More than 100 officers are searching Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for James Eric Davis Jr. The shooting occurred Friday around 8:30 a.m. at Central Michigan's Campbell Hall, a dormitory. Police say he fled on foot.
   The university is about 70 miles north of Lansing, Michigan's state capital.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Two people were shot and killed in a dorm at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, according to a Tweet from the city of Mount Pleasant.

"Central Michigan University Police confirm two individuals were fatally shot at Campbell Hall on campus this morning," according to the Tweet.

"The deceased are not students and police believe the situation started from a domestic situation. There are no additional injuries and the suspect is still at large."

The suspect, considered armed and dangerous, is at large, Mount Pleasant officials said.

The city says the male suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

The school released the information on its Facebook page around 9:30 a.m. An automated phone message from the school also was sent to students Friday morning.

Central Michigan University has about 23,000 students in Mount Pleasant, which is about 70 miles (112.6 kilometers) north of Lansing.
