Reports: Packers sign Wilkerson

Posted: Updated:

The Packers didn't wait until the official start of free agency to make a splash. According to various reports, the Packers have agreed to terms with defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. The NFL Network is reporting Wilkerson is coming to Green Bay on a one-year deal worth $5 million with an addition $3 million in incentives.

Wilkerson was recently released by the Jets. He visited Green Bay before meeting with the Saints, Chiefs and Redskins. Wilkerson will be reunited with new Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, who was with New York at the beginning of Wilkerson's career.

Wilkerson posted 28.5 sacks from 2013-15. The Jets rewarded him with a five-year, $85 million deal in 2016. Wilkerson's production quickly fell off. He had eight sacks over the past two seasons combined. Still, he seems rejuvenated by the idea of joining Mike Daniels and the Packers defensive line group.
