Cichy back on field at Wisconsin Pro Day

Posted: Updated:

All 32 NFL teams came out to Wisconsin's pro day on Wednesday.   The day was extra special for former linebacker Jack Cichy.  The day marked the first time Cichy has run drills in front of the public since tearing his ACL in fall practice.

"Just being able to be back out here - obviously I've been going through drills - but to be able to do it in front of a crowd, in front of old teammates and my roommates and everyone else who was in the process with me, it was a lot of fun," said Cichy.

He looked ready for his return.  Cichy's 4.19 in the shuttle and 6.88 in the 3-cone drill would have ranked him in the top 5 among linebackers at the NFL combine.

"I wasn't quite 100% yet," said Cichy.  "There's still kind of that last 10% of full speed that i'm not really comfortable with yet.  That's why I didn't run the 40.  But I think just how I progressed laterally and how I'm still really able to do the football-specific drills the way I can, I really wanted to show off that."

Tight end Troy Fumagalli sat out all drills, because of a core injury.  Linebacker Leon Jacobs - who impressed at the NFL combine - felt his times there were enough, and only participated in linebacker drills.  Nick Nelson - expected to be the highest Badger taken in the draft- was the fastest with a 3.88 shuttle. Natrell Jamerson had the highest jump - a 38 inch vertical.  Linebacker Garrett Dooley said he was pleased with how he improved on his times from the ones at the NFL combine.

"To be back at your school that you've been at for 4 1/2 years and with the guys that you consider your best friends, and just to be around people that you've been with for a long time, it makes this experience a lot more comfortable and i think people have a lot more fun," said Dooley.
